HOMEless with pets
There is a strong bond between humans and animals. This is even more true for the homeless with pets. Many homeless "adopt" pets from strays on the street. In a difficult situation, they count on each other for survival. Some estimates are that up to 10% of the homeless have pets. Unfortunately, the majority of homeless shelters do not allow pets. This can lead to a difficult decision - leaving people to choose between their own shelter or giving up their best friend. They are together 24 / 7 and because of this the dogs are typically highly socialized and well behaved. These grateful pets are non-judgmental and they help keep each other warm and safe. Sometimes these owners could use some support. THF can offer good advice on properly caring for their pets while on the street, better gear to keep them safe, animal first aid tips or sometimes just a handshake, a dog treat and a pat on the head.
How THF helps:
- Produces and distributes laminated Good Advice cards for the homeless with pets. These cards list local resources (vet clinics, pantries with dog food, pet-friendly shelters, tips to care for animals in extreme heat or cold, basic animal first aid, etc.)
- Collects, and via volunteers, distributes dog supplies such as leashes, collars and dog coats to help keep the dogs safe.
- Provides "street kits" for the owner and the dog that include restaurant gift cards, dog food, new socks, rain ponchos or umbrellas.
- Intervenes with proper authorities when we witness animal neglect or the use of dogs solely for the purpose of panhandling.
- Fundraise, organize volunteers and assist at events for national charities focused on supporting the homeless with dogs.

For a parent, one of life's greatest challenges is having a child become critically ill. We strongly believe that keeping families close to their sick child during treatment helps comfort the child, preserve the integrity of the family and help improve healthcare outcomes.
How THF helps:
- We help to organize local events that convey the mission of focused charities and raise funds in support of these charities.
- We offer free marketing, accounting and other business services to these charities.
- We participate in the leadership of both local and national charities where we feel we can make a difference.
endowed scholarship funds
There are many high school students that "get it" early. They are often involved in their communities, their church and they are focused on helping others before themselves. Financially assisting these types of students who are interested in continuing their education is a good return on THF's investment.
How THF helps:
- We financially support endowed scholarship programs through local educational organizations
- We develop scholarship criteria that rewards not just smart kids, but students that are industrious and energized to do more for others
- We solicit and promote internship programs for engaged students in specific fields of study
